Person Centered
I believe a person-centered approach sets the foundation for any effective therapy to take place. With my emphasis on client-therapist congruence, unconditional positive regard and empathetic understanding, my goal is to help you become more open to experience, learn to trust yourself, and begin to create an internal assessment of yourself which fosters your motivation to continue to grow.

Cognitive Behavioral
Once we have created an atmosphere of trust and respect, my next goal is to help you learn how to process the relationship between your beliefs, thoughts, feelings and behaviors in a new and more accurate way. CBT is a goal-oriented, realistic approach to problem-solving, with a focus on gaining awareness of how your “perceptions” of events are directly influencing your feelings and actions even more than the event itself.

Learning Theory
Principles of learning can also be used to gain insight into factors that may be maintaining certain patterns of thinking or behaving. This approach is based on the notion that all behaviors are learned and have the potential to be changed; essentially, we learn how to get our needs met the best way we know how, but frequently those approaches are no longer serving us, and discovering alternative options can lead to healthier lifestyles.
